Captain Bivens served with HQ Company, 3rd Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division as a commander of a tank destroyer unit. He was captured by the enemy on November 30, 1950 and died in captivity.
He is buried in Highland Cemetery, Chattanooga, Tennessee.
