Virtual Shrine
The Shrine of Memory at the Virginia War Memorial honors the service of the Virginia men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in World War II, and the wars in Korea, Vietnam, and the Persian Gulf. Those Virginians killed in action during the Global War on Terrorism in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lebanon, and other locations throughout the world are also memorialized. Use this Virtual Shrine — a searchable database — to identify any of the nearly 12,000 individuals remembered at the Memorial.
Meticulous research and editing went toward ensuring this Virtual Shrine is as accurate as possible. We welcome more eyes on the project as we continue to monitor for accuracy.
We invite you to visit the Shrine of Memory in person and experience the many ways in which the Virginia War Memorial preserves the stories of veterans who gave their lives in service, honors all veterans and active-duty military, and inspires love of country.
