First Lieutenant Stryker served with the “Hun Hunters” Group of the 9th Air Force, P-47 Thunderbolt Fighter Group and completed 85 missions over enemy territory.
Stated in the Richmond Times-Dispatch, “Lieutenant Stryker was shot down by anti-aircraft fire December 1 while leading his flight of P-47 Thunderbolt fighters on repeated attacks at a dangerously low altitude to silence enemy gun positions near Bergstein, Germany, when enemy action threatened the advance of American First Army troops”.
He attended Benedictine High School and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School (1942) in Richmond, Virginia.
He is buried in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Richmond, Virginia.
