Technician Fourth Grade Worrell served with the 3rd Tank Battalion, 10th Armored Division. He was killed by German artillery fire. Before the war, he was the principal of Mt. Bethel High School in Carroll County. He was a graduate of Coal Creek High School and Lynchburg College.

He is buried in Coal Creek Memorial Cemetery, Carroll County, Virginia, next to his younger brother, Rufus Aaron Worrell, who was also killed in action.
