Gordon Clevington Brooks

Hometown: Roanoke City, VA

Captain Brooks served as a pilot with the 27th Troop Carrier Squadron, 443rd Troop Carrier Group in the China-Burma-India.

Before the war, Gordon graduated from Jefferson High School and he was employed by American Viscose Corporation, Roanoke, Virginia.

Captain Brooks was flying a C47A that crashed 20 miles southwest of Mitu, Burma on September 23, 1944.  He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.  He is buried in Sherwood Burial Park, Roanoke, Virginia.
