Second Lieutenant Owen served with the 400th Bomb Squadron, 90th Bomb Group, Heavy, 5th Air Force as a Bombardier on B-24D Liberator #42-40920 (“Pete the Carrier”). On a mission to Boram Airstrip, 2LT Owen’s plane was hit by Japanese Zeros which shot out one of the motors, burst into flames, and crashed.

He graduated from Crozet High School and attended Washington & Lee University for 2 years.

His name is listed on the Wall of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Philippines.
