Pfc Collier served as a rifleman with F Company, 2nd Battalion, 3rd Marines, III Marine Amphibious Force. He died of wounds and burns received from a hostile rocket propelled grenade while engaged in action with hostile forces in Quang Tri Province on a ridge about 8 km from “The Rockpile,” also known as Elliot Combat Base or Thon Khe Tri.
