National Salute to Veteran Patients Week

This week, February 14 – 20, is National Salute to Veteran Patients Week. During this week, all are invited to say thank you to the more than 9 million U.S. veteran patients who are cared for primarily through the Department of Veterans Affairs.

The staff and Board of the Virginia War Memorial Foundation did something to recognize our veteran patients in Virginia, particularly during such a challenging time for hospital-bound patients. Several pitched in to write cards and letters for those currently being cared for in the VA Medical Centers in Virginia.

This morning, Memorial Operations Director and Army Veteran Chad Arcand, and Foundation  Events Manager Kerrie Arcand delivered a bundle of cards and letters to the Hunter Holmes McGuire VA Medical Center and Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center.

“We were thrilled to participate in this way. Hopefully we have made a small difference to some veteran patients,” said Kerrie Arcand. “I hope we can grow this connection between the Foundation and the Medical Centers across Virginia, so they can make use of the resources the Memorial has to offer.”

Kristy René Coie-Day, Dir. for Development & Civic Engagement at the VA Med Center accepts a bundle of cards and letters from Memorial staff, Kerrie and Chad Arcand.
