Our student programming is designed to enrich classroom curriculum with the personal stories of the men and women who experienced history firsthand. Join us for interactive field trips and distance learning programs that develop connections between today’s students and the Virginians who came and served before them.
For schools and student groups who are unable to take a field trip to the Virginia War Memorial, we also offer a variety of distance learning opportunities! We are currently offering two ways for students to engage with our educators using live distance learning, and an expanding library of recorded options and other resources for asynchronous use.

These videoconference-style programs target Virginia’s Standards of Learning, and are designed to be interactive with students of all ages. Programs are free, and must be scheduled with our Education staff at least two weeks in advance. Several topics are available:
Please note: each of these programs can be scheduled for 30 or 60 minutes, and can be targeted towards a middle or high school level audience. Programs are live, and students are encouraged to interact with the Memorial educator during the program. Programs are run through Zoom or Google Meet, though we may be able to work with you to use another service. Before each program, a Memorial educator will reach out to schedule a brief practice session and discuss the goals of the program.
These webinar-style programs are offered through Zoom and are free and open to all, though registration is required.

We also provide asynchronous, pre-recorded lessons with resources on a variety of topics, as well as recordings of our many previous Livestream programs. The award-winning Virginians at War series is also available streaming for all, along with a growing collection of supplemental resource packets for each documentary.
