Private Myers served with the 337th Infantry Regiment, 85th Infantry Division (“Custer” Division).
As recounted by his son, “I remember the last time we saw him. He came home on a 24 hour pass. He and mom woke me, my brother, and my sister up. Dad told us a story. The next morning we got up, he was gone. I also remember when we received the telegram that he was dead. I was outside filling the coal bucket and wood box. When I got back in the house my mom and grandmother were sitting at the kitchen table crying.”
He is buried in Florence American Cemetery, Italy.
