Technical Sergeant Wright served with the 578th Bomb Squadron, 392nd Bomb Group as a Radio Operator on B-24 Liberator (42-52548, “Jaw-Ja Boy”) which was shot down on a mission to Mainz, Germany. The plane was hit by flax and burst into flames. Nine of the eleven crew members were killed.

He is buried in Wright Cemetery, Dickenson County, Virginia.
