Virginia War Memorial Livestream: Remembering the Wereth Eleven

During the first hours of the Battle of the Bulge, the 333rd Field Artillery Battalion had provided fire support at the siege of Bastogne. The unit was overrun by the German advance, but eleven men escaped to the town of Wereth, Belgium. They were eventually captured by the 1st SS Panzer Division, tortured, and executed. Virginia War Memorial Director of Education, Jim Triesler, will explore the service of these eleven Black American heroes and the ways they have since been honored for their service.

All the Virginia War Memorial’s livestreams are free and open to the public, though registration is required. Register early, as there is limited space to listen live! Register at  https://bit.ly/3PCIvoP.
