On August 2, 1990, the Iraqi army invaded its neighbor Kuwait, beginning a military occupation of the country that would last seven months.

Iraq’s subsequent refusal to withdraw led to a direct military intervention by a United Nations-authorized coalition of forces led by the United States. These events came to be known as the Gulf War. Join us as we revisit the final military operation of this conflict and its long- and short-term outcomes.
