Leadership in America: Patton’s Prayer with Alex Kershaw

Alexander Kershaw is the widely acclaimed, prize-winning author of 12 books, including The Longest Winter and The Bedford Boys. Kershaw is the resident historian for “Friends of the National WWII Memorial,” a nonprofit based in Washington D.C., whose mission is to make sure that one of the most inspiring chapters in U.S. history is taught in as many Virginia high schools as possible.

Kershaw’s newest book, Patton’s Prayer: A True Story of Courage, Faith, and Victory in World War II, tells the story of General George Patton’s finest hours during the Battle of the Bulge. Out of desperation, the religious General Patton sought divine intervention when his Third Army was stalled in Lorraine, mired in mud after days and days of steady rain. Now famous, Patton’s Prayer (penned by Chaplain James H. O’Neill) was printed on 250,000 notecards and distributed with the directive to pray, pray, pray.

Join us as Kershaw shares his insights into Patton’s character and discusses his latest book.

A light reception and book signing will follow the lecture.
