Come one, come all to a patriotic day filled with remembrance, experiences, and community!

On Saturday, June 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. we will hope a FREE community event with activities and tours for guests of all ages.


Family Bonding: Spend quality time with your loved ones while exploring the Memorial’s grounds.

  • Outside, view the flag display and the newly updated public green space featuring plants native to Virginia.
  • Inside, we have a fun Memorial-wide scavenger hunt, and docents will be on-site for family-friendly tours.

Flying Squirrels “Funn”: Nutzy and Nutasha will be on-site to celebrate all who have served and host a giveaway for tickets to “Military Appreciation Night” at the Diamond.

Transcribe-a-Thon: This year, we are partnering with our friends at the Library of Virginia to host a transcribe-a-thon event. Discover how you can help make historical documents about Virginia’s WWII veterans easier to find and use for years to come.

Military Demonstrations: Active-Duty military personnel will be on-site from Ft. Gregg-Adams to share interactive demonstrations including VR goggles, K9 service dogs, MRAP (Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected) Vehicles, Medical Displays, and more!

Military Used-Book Sale: Our Memorial Store, always full of treasures, will host our annual military used-book sale. Come find some treasures and stock up on summer reads.

Crafts Galore: Let your creativity soar as we provide a variety of patriotic crafts for all ages.

Free Admission: Entry to the event is free, ensuring that everyone can join in the fun and celebration!
