Eyewitness to History: Experiencing the Unthinkable on 9/11
In our ongoing series Eyewitness to History, longtime friend of the Virginia War Memorial, Mary Ann Wilson, shares her personal experiences from September 11, 2001.
On special assignment as HUD’s Regional Director for New York and New Jersey in 2001, Mrs. Wilson witnessed the 9/11 attack just outside her 35th floor office window of the Federal Building in Lower Manhattan. Responsible for more than 300 people on several floors,she will share her thoughts and decision-making in those first moments and tell of her experiences throughout that unthinkable day and the days that followed.
