Bringing Honor Home: A Native-American Heritage Month Event
Join Virginia War Memorial friend and volunteer Powhatan Red Cloud Owen and his fellow veteran Chief Kenneth Adams for an in-person discussion of the Native-American Military Experience. Powhatan is a Chickahominy Tribal Elder and Chief Adams is the Chief Emeritus for the Upper Mattaponi Tribe.
They will share how Virginians who were Native Americans often had to leave the Commonwealth in order to receive a high school education. Frequently, they would then enlist where they had graduated high school. Many are still fighting to be recognized as Virginians.
5:00 p.m.: Light Reception
6:00 p.m.: Presentation (VMI Hall)
