Veterans Affairs presents 75 Year Salute to Women in the Military Symposium

In celebration of the 75th Anniversary of the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act, the Department of Veterans Affairs will host a celebration of Women Veterans at the Virginia War Memorial.

On June 12, 1948, President Harry Truman signed into law the Women’s Armed Services Integration Act. The law enabled women to serve as permanent, regular members of the armed forces in the Army, Navy, Marine Corps, and the-then recently formed Air Force.

During this event, there will be prominent speakers from the Veterans Affairs Office of Women’s Health, including Command Sgt. Maj.(Ret) Michele Jones and state and federal government leaders. Breakfast and lunch will be available for all attendees.

The event will spotlight topics that affect Women Veterans of past, present, and future including a workshop on hiring that includes free professional headshots with makeup application. Please join us in a salute to all Women Veterans for 75 years of all-voluntary service.

This event is free and open to the public, but advanced registration is required.
