The Commonwealth of Virginia’s Patriot Day Ceremony

The Commonwealth of Virginia’s Patriot Day Ceremony will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024 at 11 a.m. in the Shrine of Memory: Global War on Terrorism and Beyond.

This annual ceremony commemorates the 23rd anniversary of the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in New York City, the Pentagon in Northern Virginia and the downing of the jet aircraft in Shanksville, Pennsylvania on September 11, 2001.

All are invited and encouraged to attend the ceremony. The ceremony will not be televised and will be an “in-person only” event. Guests are encouraged to arrive with ample time to park and find a seat before the program beings at 11:00 a.m.

The Virginia War Memorial’s documentary film, A New Century, A New War, will be played in Reynolds Theater throughout the day.
