Corporal Townsend served with Company B, 1st Battalion, 23rd Marines, 4th Marine Division. He and his four brothers all served during the war. Before the war, he was employed by the Sun Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company, Chester, Pennsylvania. He is buried in Greenlawn Memorial Cemetery, Newport News, Virginia.

Sergeant Toy served with the 2nd Battalion, 17th Artillery Regiment – 2nd Infantry Div, Fort Lewis, Washington. He was killed by an improvised explosive device. He is buried in Bethel AME Church Cemetery, Eastville, Virginia.

Private Trail served with the 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Infantry Division. He is buried in North Africa American Cemetery, Tunisia.
