WWII–Landed at Omaha Beach D+105, European Campaign in Luxemburg, Holland, Belgium, & Germany. Malmedy Massacre Battle of the Bulge. Wound up meeting the Russians in Frankenburg, Germany.

Served in World War II. Participated in a night reconnaissance in the Saar region of Germany. Killed in Action while shooting at the enemy on November 29, 1944. Due to his quick action, men and data were returned safely to the Americans.

PFC Schaffer served as a rifleman with the 7th Infantry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division. He attended Chester High School and was employed by the Richmond General Depot before the war.

Served with A Company, 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division.

First Lieutenant Schlenz served with Marine Aircraft Group 23, 3rd Marine Aircraft Wing. He is buried in Wyckoff Reformed Church Cemetery, Bergen, N.J.

First Lieutenant Schlie served as the Rotary Wing Aviation Unit Commander with the 54th Medical Detachment, 61st Medical Battalion, 67th Medical Group, 44th Medical Brigade. He was a 1962 graduate of Mount Vernon High School and attended the Citadel. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
