Lt Salvage served aboard the USS Juneau CL-52 that was hit by a torpedo near Guadalcanal. The torpedo blew the ship in half, killing most of the crew members. He was a 1939 graduate of the United States Naval Academy.

PFC Samuels served with Company D, 14th Infantry Regiment, 25th Infantry Division, 2nd Battalion.

Private Sanderlin served with Headquarters Company, 2nd Battalion, 502nd Parachute Infantry Regiment, 101st Airborne Division. He was a 1941 graduate of Maury High School in Norfolk, Virginia. He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

Captain Sanders completed flight training at U. S. Naval Air Station, Corpus Christi, Texas. He graduated from the University of Richmond in 1941 with a bachelor’s degree and LLB in Law.

Staff Sergeant Sandidge served with Company K, 110th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division. He is buried in Holsten View Cemetery, Gate City, Virginia. Before the war, he graduated from from Shoemaker High School in 1939 and worked for Kingsport Press.

Staff Sergeant Sandridge served with the 406th Infantry Regiment, 9th Army. He was a graduate of Crozet High School and was employed by the A & P Store in Crozet. He is buried in Rock Gate Cemetery, Crozet, Virginia.
