Foundation Policies & Resources

The Virginia War Memorial Foundation operates from a position of financial strength thanks to generous support from a wide and diverse donor base. Careful financial management and sound policies have resulted in an investment portfolio of nearly $10 million in restricted and unrestricted assets. Our prudent endowment draw provides relief to the operating budget which allows contributions to support program expenses. Around 30% of nonprofits don’t survive their first ten years. The Virginia War Memorial Foundation is on a trajectory of growth, living within our means, but able to take bold steps to meet our mission.

In 2024, the Virginia War Memorial Foundation had unrestricted financial reserves of about $10,019,352, or about 5.8 times its most recent annual expenses, which totaled about $1,722,473.
