VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! Join the Richmond Marathon Mile 16 Party at the Virginia War Memorial

Mile 16 of a marathon is no ordinary mile. The runners have already covered serious ground, and the encouragement they hear along the way can make all the difference. This November, we’re turning Mile 16 into one of Richmond’s most spirited places to be — and we need you!

When: Saturday, November 14, 2026, 7 a.m.–1 p.m. (volunteer assignments and arrival times will be confirmed separately)
Where: Virginia War Memorial, 621 S. Belvidere St., Richmond; Mile 16 support station on Belvidere Street just south of Spring Street
Who: Volunteers, friends, families, and anyone ready to cheer!

The Virginia War Memorial invites volunteers, families, friends, and enthusiastic supporters to join us during the Allianz Richmond Marathon. We’ll be helping runners at our water station, cheering them on from our Spirit Station, and bringing plenty of energy to this challenging stretch of the course.

DJ Tony is coming back! Expect music, cheering, high fives from the sidelines, and a fun, festive atmosphere. Whether you can help with water, join the cheering section, or simply bring your enthusiasm, there’s an opportunity to be part of the day. No running shoes required — unless you want to dance!

We have lots of volunteer opportunities, and we’d love to have you there. Help us show marathon runners what Richmond hospitality looks like when they need it most.

Interested in volunteering? RSVP by email to Benjamin.King@dvs.virginia.gov. Please include your name, number of people interested, and how best to reach you. We will follow up with available assignments and reporting details.

Come help make Mile 16 the mile runners remember. You don’t want to miss this party!
