The Virginia War Memorial depends on the generosity of corporations, businesses, military and veteran organizations, civic groups, other foundations, and most especially, individuals like you to fulfill its mission to Honor Veterans, Preserve History, Educate Youth and Instill Patriotism in All.
Chartered in 2000, the Virginia War Memorial Foundation (VWMF) is the 501 (c) (3) corporation that finances all of the educational and patriotic programs, historic exhibits, documentary films, and student-teacher outreach of the Memorial.
There is no admission charge to tour the Virginia War Memorial and the Paul and Phyllis Galanti Education Center or to attend virtually all programs and exhibits held here. Donations to the Foundation provide the funds necessary to allow us to remain free of charge and present over 50 programs and events each year.
Donations may be unrestricted through the Foundation's Annual Fund or directed to support a specific program, need or special project. Gifts to the Foundation are also tax-deductible to the fully extent of the law and are acknowledged as such in writing. You may donate to the Virginia War Memorial Foundation by check or major credit card by mail or online. The Foundation also accepts gifts of stocks, bonds and tangible properties.
Mail donations should to directed to:

These include advertising, signage and special recognition at the event. Sponsorships can be tailored to your budget and range from direct financial donations to in-kind products and services. Please contact our Director of Marketing and Communications to discuss available sponsorship opportunities.
Join The Legacy Society
There is no better way to ensure the future of the Virginia War Memorial than by joining The Legacy Society and including the Foundation in your estate planning. Planned gifts to The Legacy Society not only give one the satisfaction of supporting the Memorial for perpetuity, they can result in financial benefits for the donor and his or her heirs by helping to reduce tax liabilities. Planned gifts may include:
- Bequests from wills and trusts
- Proceeds from life insurance policies, retirement accounts and annuities
- Gifts of stocks and securities
- Gifts of real estates and other tangible assets
Please contact the Foundation Executive Director to arrange a confidential meeting to discuss opportunities for planned giving. We recommend that prospective donors may wish to include their estate planners, financial and tax advisors, and attorneys when considering a Legacy Society gift.
