Private Tingler served with Company K, 3rd Battalion, 319th Infantry Regiment, 80th Infantry Division.

Before the war, Wilbur attended high school for four years and he was employed by the Celairese Corporation of America.  He was  married and they had a daughter.

He enlisted at Fort George Meade, Maryland; on March 17, 1944 and was killed by enemy gunshot near Abaucourt, France.  He is buried in Lorraine American Cemetery, St. Avoid, France.
