Private First Class Loundermon served as a rifleman and assistant squad leader with B Company, 1st Battalion, 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division. He was on a patrol mission when a booby trap was detonated and he died of his wounds suffered from the shrapnel.
He is buried in Danville National Cemetery, Danville, Virginia.
