Staff Sergeant Claytor served with the 601st Tank Destroyer Battalion. He is buried in the Lorraine American Cemetery in Lorraince, France next to his younger brother, Private First Class Sherman Elwood Claytor. Before the war, he was employed by the Blue Ridge Rug Company.
