TSgt Tyree served with the 614th Bomb Squadron, 401st Bomb Group. He was a Radio Operator on B-17G Flying Fortress (43-38330, “Gambler’s Choice”) – was struck in the neck by flak fragment and died a short time later. He is buried in Cambridge American Cemetery, England. He was a graduate of Stuarts Draft High School.
