This Day in History: 1806-09-23

Setting off two years earlier on an expedition through the territory of the Louisiana Purchase, Meriwether Lewis and William Clark return home to St. Louis, Missouri. They are the first Europeans to explore the Pacific coast by coming eastward from an overland route.
