LTC Mullins served with the 111th Field Artillery Battalion, 29th Infantry Division. He was posthumously awarded the Distinguished Service Cross and Purple Heart for gallantry in action while leading a charge on a Normandy beachhead. He is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia.
