Specialist Mace served with the 3rd Squadron, 61st Cavalry Regiment, 4th Infantry Division, Fort Carson, Colorado. He died from wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his outpost with small arms fire, rocket-propelled grenades and indirect fire.
He attended Loudoun Valley High School.
He is buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
