Private First Class Burns served with the 116th Infantry Regiment, 29th Infantry Division.
At age 25, he was had to be hospitalized for a water moccasin snake bite. He was employed by National Paint and Maganese Company that processed manganese ore in Lynchburg, Virginia.
PFC Burns was killed in action in Normandy and buried in Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-Mer, France.
