Second Lieutenant Clemons served with the 309th Bomber Squadron.
Henry was born August 4, 1919, in Kuling, China, where his father was a teacher and librarian at the University of Nanking. The family moved back to the US in 1922 and his father became the librarian at the University of Virginia. Henry graduated from Episcopal High School in 1937 where he was the manager of the baseball team. In 1941, he graduated from the University of Virginia with an engineering degree and he was in the aviation club.
He enlisted in the Air Corps as an aviation cadet and earned his commission at Spence Field, Georgia in 1943. He was killed in a training flight on July 31, 1944. He is buried at the University of Virginia cemetery.
