Seaman First Class Rogers served aboard the SS Meriwether Lewis as part of the armed guard crew when it was attacked in the North Atlantic in March, 1943.
He attended Handley High School and enlisted in the Navy in October 1942. He was stationed in Mississippi and Brooklyn, New York before being assigned to sea duty.
Before the war, he was employed by W. J. Dickey & Sons, Baltimore, Maryland.
He is buried in Mount Hebron Cemetery, Winchester, Virginia.
