Captain Young served with the 111th Field Artillery, in the 29th Division.
He graduated from Episcopal High School and went on to attended Virginia Military Institute where he graduated with the class of 1933, majoring in Civil Engineering. He joined the Virginia National Guard as a 2nd Lt. and attended training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He worked for his father’s building supply business and he got married in June 1939.
He was called up for active duty at Fort Meade, Maryland in 1941. He died on May 7, 1941 and is buried in Oak Hill Cemetery, Fredericksburg, Virginia.
